2008 WDFW Statewide Steelhead Management Plan

Happy leap year!

On leap day 2008 the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife released its Statewide Steelhead Management Plan.

Here is the goal they had in mind.

The purpose of this plan is to to provide a framework of policies, strategies, and actions that will lead to the achievement of the following goal for the steelhead stocks and fisheries of Washington:

  • Restore and maintain the abundance, distribution, diversity, and long-term productivity of Washington’s wild steelhead and their habitats to assure healthy stocks. In a manner consistent with this goal, the Department will seek to protect and restore steelhead to achieve cultural, economic, and ecosystem benefits for current and future residents of Washington State.
