Water + Words is a hand printed limited edition folio by artist Frances Ashforth. The images on each page were derived from field study drawings that range from the tundra of Alaska to the mangrove habitats of the Bahamas. Each printed image is accompanied by the writing of one of the projects eleven contributors. Whether conservationist, fisherman, lawyer, writer or farmer, each was simply asked, “what does water mean to you?” The basis for this project was to simply celebrate both art and thought and to share the importance that the role water plays in our daily lives. To quote Plutarch, “Water is the principle or the element of things. All things are water.”
