A strange phenomenon recently occurred on Providence Atoll in the Seychelles in November 2022. This autumn, Providence and many other atolls experienced a huge influx of baitfish around the atoll and on the flats. These bait balls created a prolific food source for the giant trevally and other species that inhabit this remote atoll that upset the nature of movement on the flats. It also created fantastic fishing opportunities and bodes well for the future of the fish that live there as they pack on weight for the coming seasons. In this video, head guide Tim Babich explains what occurred and how it changed the fishing conditions.
