The Sierra Trout Camp, hosted by TU’s Truckee River Chapter and Public Lands staff, is a two-day youth education event now in its sixth year. In June 2017, twenty eager students came from all over California to learn from local pros and test their new fly fishing skills on privately managed water operated by Matt Heron Fly Fishing and Tahoe Fly Fishing Outfitters.
Sierra Trout Camp has become a true community affair that swaps cell phones for fly rods and encourages kids to learn about stream ecology as well as fishing tools and techniques, as well as the responsibility all anglers share to take care of our fish, wildlife, and waters.
