According to a new report from the Center for Biological Diversity, Utah Sen. Mike Lee, a Republican, is “Public Lands Enemy #1,” followed by Rep. Rob Bishop and Sen. Orrin Hatch, fellow members of the Utah congressional delegation.
CBD analyzed legislation introduced in the three preceding sessions of Congress, finding a total of 132 bills that the conservation group deemed would “give away, dismantle, destroy or privatize America’s public lands, placing extractive interests over wildlife, habitat protection, clean water, air and recreation.”
The report targets the primary sponsors of those bills — nine House lawmakers and six senators, all of whom hail from eight Western states.
