The 2023 Spring Mack Days fishing competition, which ran from March 16 to May 13, saw 200 anglers participate, and all together, they were able to remove over 33,297 invasive lake trout from Flathead Lake in northwest Montana. This biannual event is sponsored by the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes and sanctioned by Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks as a tool to reduce the non-native lake trout in the lake and to help improve the native bull trout and westslope cutthroat numbers.
