Last week, legendary flats guide and fly fishing pioneer Captain Bill Curtis passed away. A fishing legend and founding board member of the Bonefish & Tarpon Trust, Captain Bill was a renowned flats guide who pioneered bonefish on fly in Biscayne Bay. Bill is also credited with inventing the poling platform. Now standard on all flats boats, Bill’s initial poling platform was often confused for a fish cleaning table.
