Utah’s public land stealing Congressman Jason Chaffetz, who settled on the unfortunate Instagram handle @jasoninthehouse, will soon need a new handle now that he’s announced he won’t be seeking reelection in 2018. In his eight year tenure, Chaffetz racked up a despicable record on public lands and infamously introduced legislation to steal 3.3 million acres of public land, which he later withdrew after much public condemnation by hunters and anglers.
So today is a day of celebration for everyone who cares about public lands in this country. But we can’t celebrate too long as we need to get to work and ensure that Chaffetz’s vacated seat is filled by someone who supports public lands.
Here’s to hoping this dude keeps his head buried underground and never runs for office again!
