This episode of RIO’s “How To” series has RIO brand manager Simon Gawesworth, fishing some beautiful flats in Cuba – in particular at Cayo Largo.
In this highly instructive video, Simon explains how to fly fish for bonefish from a flats boat and offers up some key tips to help your day on the water. Simon runs through the right kind of gear to take with you, and then once on the boat he shows how to get into the “ready position” so you have less chance of blowing that first cast because you are not prepared. In addition, Simon shows how to retrieve the line to make sure you have the best chance of setting the hook when a bonefish eats, and also explains the four key things to look for when out on a flat to know where these “ghost of the flat” are swimming.
