The trout season down there started only a week or two back (early – mid November). I tried not to rip open a big storage box that I have in a cupboard here, and look through around twenty on-river boxes of Argentine and Chilean trout flies, or the several large old plastic ice-cream containers full of Wool(l)y Buggers, Popsicles, marabous and rabbit- and hare-body-strip “Things”, in any colo(u)r you like, including black. Plus the ones holding Hoppers – hair, foam, all of them with rubberlegs. Best not to, I thought to myself. I managed not to, but do know that they’re still very much there…..
