Backers of the constitutional amendment say it’s necessary because “anti-fishing and hunting” groups could push for restrictions.
State statute currently recognizes the right to fish and hunt. Some fear putting it in the constitution could give people the right to hunt bears or even hunt on private property or use gill nets to catch fish, a method already banned.
