The federal agencies that run fourteen dams in the Columbia River Basin just released a long-awaited analysis on how they will keep salmon from going extinct. Not included in the list of measures is the one thing the agencies said would help salmon and steelhead most, breaching the four lower Snake River dams.
The agencies’ opposition to breaching boils down to the same reasons they have used for years, the importance of the power produced by the dams and the barging they provide for the region’s farmers
