It took 42 years for someone to break Steven Lee’s record Alaskan pink salmon (12 pound, 9 ounce). That person was Thomas Salas, who hauled in a monster pink salmon out of the Kenai River Monday night, weighing 12 pounds and 13 ounces and taping out at 28.5 inches long. While Lee’s record stood for 42 years, Salas’ record only lasted for three hours as Robert Dubar strolled into the Fish and Game office with a 13 pounds, 10.6 ounces, 32 inch-long pink salmon that he caught that morning in the Kenai.
