Sending our best to all our friends at IFTD in Salt Lake, the first industry trade gathering since pre-COVID. While we’d love to be out on the Wasatch Front with the trade, we’re with some other friends at the NOAA Saltwater Recreational Fishing Conference in Washington D.C.
Here is a roundup of just some of the new products, brands, and news you can expect to see during and after the show.
Our friends at Costa have added two new frames to their PRO Series of performance sunglasses for anglers – Tuna Alley PRO + Reefton PRO.
Six added features help anglers better manage sweat, reduce fogging and keep frames locked in place, even when the water gets rough.
- Eyewire drains help keep sweat and water from pooling inside the frame
- Sweat management channels move sweat and water away from your eyes
- Improved Hydrolite™ grip on the nose and earpiece keeps frames locked in place, especially when wet
- Fully-adjustable and ventilated nose pads offer a customizable fit and reduce fogging
- Metal keeper slots help keep your frames from going overboard
- Hooding and side shields maximize coverage to help keep light from leaking in

For all of you that have been living under a rock, Sage has introduced Revolution 8 Technology which is the foundation of their new R8 CORE rod series.
R8 Core is a rod family focused on maximum versatility and applies new revolutionary material technology through our forward-thinking lens of what we’re seeing out on the water where one rod needs to show an even greater range.
A pretty good chance the R8 wins a best-in-show product award.
Patagonia is at IFTD in a non-transactional way to support its nonprofit partners and activist community.
“We’re not selling product, we’re using our platform to reiterate our core values: wild fish and clean water.”

The fly fishing world has a new brand! Skwala, based in Southwest Montana launched back in early March to consumers and a few select retailers. The brand launched with a tight array of core products, including two waders, two jackets, two insulation pieces, two sunshirts, wading pants, and shorts.
The new 22 Simms lineup encompasses all categories but most noteworthy is an all-new version of Simms’ most iconic product, the G3 Guide™ Stockingfoot Wader. When compared to its predecessor, the new 4-layer fabric has increased tear strength by 7.5%, standard puncture resistance by 23%, pinhole puncture resistance by 84%, and breathability by 33%. The latest iteration also coincides with the 20 year anniversary of G3 being part of the Simms line.
The smart money is on the G3 winning a New Product Showcase award.
