Artifishal is a film about people, rivers, and the fight for the future of wild fish and the environment that supports them. It explores wild salmon’s slide toward extinction, threats posed by fish hatcheries and fish farms, and our continued loss of faith in nature.
A film by Josh “Bones” Murphy

Here on the British side of The Pond, David Attenborough, the great old man of international wildlife conservation and pioneer of wildlife documentary-making (watch out for his new Netflix series, Our Planet, soon – it’s going to be harder-hitting than some of the excellently shot but necessarily uncontroversial “Sunday night TV” stuff he has made in the past for the BBC), has weighed in on the never-ending Groundhog Day salmon farming April Fools.

Saving Atlantic salmon in Britain is going to be a tough call though, with the general public largely completely unaware of salmon unless it’s filleted and packed in plastic, and even the majority of fishers not too concerned about the fish as the country’s often heavily priced-up and very private salmon rivers and salmon fishing are quite beyond most of their pockets.
We are going to need big, popular, Ordinary Joe numbers, not merely a concerned, in-house few. I said as much to an influential Britfish few in the latter camp many years ago: their response was similar to the one they reserve for those likely to interfer with their womenfolk and even more-loved Labradors.
Still some way to go………..
