A fishing guide says he and his American clients were hit by 1080 pellets on a West Coast river in an episode that tarnished New Zealand’s clean, green reputation.
The 1080 pellets are being dropped to help eradicate the spread of bovine TB from possums, it’s also highly toxic to humans. The green color is to discourage birds from eating the pellets.
